Love that Small Farm Life!
It's so nice to meet you! I'm Bree and I love small farm living through all kinds of weather, ups, downs, and joys. I've been involved with household pets for my entire life and farm animals since middle school. The majority of my farm experience has centered around horses and other equines ranging from small private barns through outfits supporting 30+ working horses serving in riding programs, summer camps, and ranch work. I've ridden multiple disciplines and worked as a riding instructor and barn manager. For the past two years, I have been volunteering in therapeutic riding/equine assisted learning programs for people with disabilities. I'm organized and a clear communicator with a calm, positive manner around animals. I am transparent and solutions-oriented when it comes to running into the unexpected things that inevitably happen with animals. I have owned and/or managed cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and poultry and would feel completely comfortable caring for small herds/flocks. I have experience with all household pets (dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, birds, etc) as an owner and caregiver. I can confidently handle feeding, at-home veterinary care, medication administration, exercise, and cleaning stalls/pens from babies through seniors. I'm also happy to attend animals through vet, body work, farrier, or other professional care appointments and can take on light barn projects including operating some small equipment or work with anyone who comes out for on-site projects. I can drive "anything" with a manual transmission so if you don't mind showing me how your equipment works, I can usually figure things out with a little trial and error. I am also an avid gardener and love getting my hands dirty when there are good things growing! At home, I live with my Labrador Retriever, Nelson, who loves taking agility classes and is getting ready to train for therapy work. I also lease an Azteca horse (Andalusian/Quarter Horse) named Cuervo who lives at a small co-op barn surrounded by goats, sheep, cattle and llamas. We love our adventures out on the trails, rivers, lakes, and mountains of our beautiful state! My certification as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning through PATH International is pending review.
